  • Cork & Shanghai, celebrating 20 years of Friendship
Photographic Exhibition
Twin Cities / Rising Flowers
November 1- 31
CETB Douglas Street Campus Cork
Cork and Shanghai have been twinned since 2005 to foster cultural, economic, and educational ties. This exhibition is a collaboration between the UCC Confucius Institute and Shandon Studios, an artistic multi-disciplinary creative collective based in Shandon Street, Cork
16 artists are exhibiting here, some from Shanghai and the majority based in Cork. Many of the Cork artists have deep connections to China.
Artists connect to the world in a visual or musical language, and this often conveys things that go beyond words. it’s especially important for exhibitions such as this to come to an educational/college/learning environment where emerging creative practitioners can be inspired
We hope to see you there All welcome.

  • WHALES ( work in progress )

This is a rough cut section of a longer piece, added Patti Smith's voice from a recent performance as it's so inspiring... final version will be much longer with original sound composition by Jason Butler....
Credit to Patti Smith. Thank you, Patti

Patti Smith's words
Maybe one day we'll be strong enough, we can build it back again.
Peaceable kingdom, build it back again.
Build the peaceable kingdom, build it back again.
I was dreaming, in my dreaming, of an aspect, bright and fair. And my sleeping, it was broken,
but my dream, it lingered near.
In the form of shining valleys, where the pure air rarefied.
And my senses newly opened, cause I awakened to the cry.
That the people have the power to redeem the work of fools. Upon the meek, the graces shower.
It's decreed, the people rule.

For all the Healers & Wise Women, some🙏 of you I know in person, some of you I have met virtually, some of you I see only in the wisdom you share on social media, books, art, and music. Yet, we are all connected by invisible threads, like the roots of trees connecting on an unseen and hidden web.
I could list and tag lots of names, but you would be bombarded with notices.... and IG might ban me for spamming ... I treasure your wisdom.
I thank you all.

  • DARK glowed the vales of amethyst
Beneath an opal shroud:
The moon bud opened through the mist
Its white-fire leaves of cloud.

Through rapt at gaze with eyes of light
Looked forth the seraph seers,
The vast and wandering dream of night
Rolled on above our tears.

  • THE SPIRAL SPINS
A spiral can be viewed from different perspectives: physically as a shape, metaphorically in personal growth or mental spirals, socially in the "spiral of silence," or scientifically in physics and cosmology. When you change your perspective, you realize how far you have come on the journey.
" We are not going in circles, we are going upwards. The path is a spiral; we have already climbed many steps. " - Hermann Hesse

  • Haloween known as Samhain was an ancient Celtic festival, celebrated over 2,000 years ago in Ireland, that marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. It was considered a time when the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.
To ward off evil spirits and disguise themselves from them, people lit large bonfires and wore costumes made of animal skins, while also leaving out food for ancestors and less fortunate people.
Time of year: Samhain was celebrated around November 1st, marking the division between the lighter and darker halves of the year. It was one of the four major Celtic fire festivals, along with Imbolc, Bealtaine, and Lughnasadh.
It was believed that during Samhain, the spirits of the dead and other supernatural beings could more easily cross into the world of the living.

As the Earth remembers, we remember.
As the Earth receives, we receive.
You may feel it in your skin.
In your breath.
In your sleep.
In your silence.
In your dance.
